34 Weeks and Baby's Room

I can't say I've done any crazy creative amounts of work on the baby's room simply because we are renting. I am glad that I did take the time to really make things for him, though. It's been a fun way to connect to him and spend this looooong wait.

We both decided that we really didn't want to paint. Usually I'd be really excited to paint, but seeing as I'd need to paint it back once we moved, I couldn't really see that task happening very easily with a baby. So we did what we could that's not permanent: artwork, lighting, decals, and bunting!

I loved the fabric from my quilt so much (only spent $30 at www.heatherbaileystore.com) and I had left-over scraps, so I thought why not make some bunting? I especially like how the sun shines through it in front of the window. Again, we didn't want to do curtains because it's just one more hole to putty, so the bunting is a simple and far easier way to handle it.

Next we both made a piece of art for the room. Here's Jason's amazing kaleidoscope photography:

You wouldn't know it, but it's a photo of bent pipe cleaners. Amazing, right? It makes a really fun addition to the changing area. I found some decals that were the same colors to extend the artwork across the whole wall.

My artwork was nothing compared to Jason's. But it was also free (we love free!) I loved this project by Jessica Jones at How About Orange. I got my own paint chips that matched my quilt at Home Depot and began tracing and cutting out little triangles. I like how they still look like patchwork:

Is it the best-designed baby room in the world? Probably not, but it's filled with projects that have tremendous meaning to us, and I love it!
