Making Fitted Cloth Diapers

I have been having fun making some fitted cloth diapers for my newborn from the free Darling Diapers Pattern. I made them out of flannel because I found a good deal on patterned flannel at Joann, and I had two huge queen sheets of 100% organic cotton left over from when we lived in a place that actually got cold enough to need them. Now that we live in Florida, I thought they'd be perfect for turning into diapers, wipes, and wash clothes. I made them with two or three layers of terry cloth between and added velcro, which I know some people don't love, but as a seamstress I know is way more versatile when it comes to fit. I added laundry tabs so that the velcro will not wear down as fast. I can understand the need for snaps later, when those little hands are coordinated enough to grab the tabs and open the diaper, but for a newborn, I'm looking for fit, quantity, and since they will washed a TON, durability.

I also added a nifty little snap in the front that snaps down to avoid rubbing on baby's umbilical cord. Cool, right? Yes, I am a diaper nerd. I never thought this would happen, but I get excited by infant car seats, strollers, baby carriers, and diapers. I've come a long way from thread art and knit graffiti! But the edgy side is still inside me. I hope!
